In all the Pride March was a great success. Not only did we have a large turnout from a variety of students from all academic areas, there was also a significant Student Group presence.
The bus arrived promptly at 8:55am, allowing us to depart ahead of schedule by 9:20am. Once we arrived in Brisbane, the students had some time to look around before the march began, photos of all students and the groups were also taken at this stage.
Prior to the march a number of individuals gave speeches about the March and the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community; these included the acting premier, members of political parties and LGBTIQ+ activists. Students thoroughly enjoyed these speeches (although they ran quite long) and have even shown interest in being involved in a Pride Rally organised in Brisbane for the 15th of October.
Following discussion with a number of the attendees myself and the rest of the organisers agree that the day was a success, achieving our collective aims to provide an educational and positive experience for the students that were involved.
